Dr. Michael S. Gayle, Ed.D.C.T., is an accomplished musician, composer, educator, and consultant whose work seamlessly bridges Caribbean/Jazz, Gospel, Contemporary Christian, and Classical music. Born in Stuttgart, Germany, to Caribbean parents and raised in the United States, he brings a rich, global perspective to his artistry—creating music that resonates across cultures and generations.
A multi-instrumentalist skilled in saxophone, piano, organ, and keyboard, Dr. Gayle is equally recognized for his work behind the scenes as a songwriter, producer, composer, and film scorer. By age eleven, he was performing on saxophone at school and community events, setting the foundation for a lifelong career in music and education. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Performance (Composition) from Adelphi University, a Master of Music in Film Scoring & Multimedia from New York University, and a Master of Music and Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. He also earned a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.C.T.), underscoring his commitment to innovation in the arts.
In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Gayle has taught and lectured at prestigious institutions including St. John’s University, Columbia University, and the Manhattan School of Music. He currently serves as Jazz Band Director at St. John’s University and provides consulting services to schools and organizations seeking to elevate their arts education programs and creative strategy.
He is also the Founder and CEO of Michael S. Gayle Media Inc., a company dedicated to delivering high-quality entertainment and production services.
Dr. Gayle performs regularly during Sunday services at Zion Cathedral, where his musicianship reflects both technical excellence and deep spiritual expression.
